Instructors and Staff

Tim Hegg, M.Div., Th.M. – President / Instructor

Tim graduated from Cedarville University in 1973 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music and Bible, with a minor in Philosophy. He entered Northwest Baptist Seminary (Tacoma WA) in 1973, completing his M.Div. (summa cum laude) in 1976. He completed his Th.M. (summa cum laude) in 1978, also from NWBS. His Master’s Thesis was titled: “The Abrahamic Covenant and the Covenant of Grant in the Ancient Near East”. He is a member of ETS and SBL, and has contributed papers at the annual meetings of both societies. Since 1990, Tim has served as one of the Overseers at Beit Hallel in Tacoma, WA. He and his wife, Paulette, have four children and six grandchildren.

Rob Vanhoff, M.A. – Instructor
He graduated with an MA, Comparative Religion (UW, 2005) and a BA, Near Eastern Languages (UW, 2003) magna cum laude. Rob is a member of SBL and ETS. He has taught courses in 1st Century Judaisms, Introduction to Rabbinic Literature, Readings from 2nd Temple Era, Theological Research & Writing, and Koine Greek.

Research Interests: History of Biblical Interpretation, Early Rabbinics, Second Temple Period, Halakhic Theory

Ariel Berkowitz, M.Div, – Instructor

Ariel has been an adjunct professor with IBEX (Israel Bible Exchange program) since 1995. His area of specialty is Jewish history, thought and culture. Ariel is also an instructor with Torah Resources International. He taught both full and part time at Israel College of Bible from 1992-2006. He and his wife D’vorah moved from the USA to Israel as citizens in 1992. They have four children and two grandchildren. Their family home is near Jerusalem.

 

Gary Springer, M.A.C.M. – Instructor/Administrator/Student Services

Gary graduated from Faith Evangelical Seminary in 2013 with a M.A.C.M. (summa cum laude) with Counseling Concentration and from Columbia Southern University with a B.S. (summa cum laude) in Business in 2010. He retired from 24 years of service in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. He began his military career as an Avionics Technician, but spent the bulk of his service in Air Force Recruiting.  Gary brings to TRI a wealth of experience in administration, leadership, and training, as well as expertise in IT and Computer Technology. He and his wife, Angie, have two children and three grandchildren. Since 2004, Gary has served as one of the Overseers at Beit Hallel in Tacoma, WA.

Caleb Hegg – Office Manager / Video & Audio Production

Caleb has managed the TorahResource office for the past four years and will continue to handle the distribution of class materials for TR Institute. He has completed five courses in Video & Audio Production from Pro Tools (an Apple certified training center) in Seattle, WA. Besides managing the office, Caleb will help Instructors prepare audio and video for the online classes they will be teaching.
